Uptick in China Wind Power Approvals
Wind power accounted for 95 percent of approved power projects in China, according to the Securities Daily. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) approved 131 power projects in the first half of 2012.
China Huadian Corporation topped the five major power groups with 32 of the approved projects.
The accelerated pace of infrastructure approvals is likely linked to China’s slowing economic growth. Since the end of January this year, the NDRC significantly accelerated the approvals process for major construction projects. In April alone, a total of 328 projects were approved, twice as many as last year.
