The 2022 Global Offshore Wind Power Conference Initiative was launched
The 2022 Global Offshore Wind Power Conference was held in Haikou, Hainan Province, last month. At the meeting, representatives of enterprises and relevant institutions from the offshore wind power industry chain at home and abroad unanimously adopted and jointly released the 2022 Global Offshore Wind Power Conference Initiative, which is committed to accelerating global offshore wind power technology innovation and laying a solid foundation for the long-term and healthy development of the industry.
The 2022 Global Offshore Wind Power Conference Initiative proposes that offshore wind power is a sunrise industry with huge development potential. The Global Offshore Wind Power Alliance proposed that in order to achieve the target of 1.5 ℃, the cumulative installed capacity of global offshore wind power in 2050 should reach at least 2 billion kilowatts. Considering the current development conditions and the requirements for China to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutralization, by the end of the “14th Five Year Plan”, the cumulative installed capacity of offshore wind power in China needs to reach more than 100 million kilowatts, more than 200 million kilowatts by 2030, and not less than 1 billion kilowatts by 2050.
The 2022 Global Offshore Wind Power Conference Initiative pointed out that vigorously developing offshore wind power is not only a key measure for countries to cope with climate change and an important means to achieve energy security, but also can drive regional economic development, form multiple trillion level industrial clusters and create hundreds of thousands of jobs. At the same time, the development of offshore wind power is also conducive to accelerating scientific and technological innovation in various countries and driving many contemporary cutting-edge technologies to make breakthroughs.
In order to ensure the sustainable development of global offshore wind power, the 2022 Global Offshore Wind Power Conference Initiative issued six initiatives, including accelerating technological innovation, creating a healthy market environment, increasing policy support, attaching great importance to safety assurance, promoting industrial integration and development, and strengthening global exchanges and cooperation. Among them, considering that China’s offshore wind power is at a critical stage of development, the state and coastal provinces should increase policy support around planning, power transmission, innovation and other aspects. At the same time, as offshore wind power projects begin to develop in deep and offshore areas, these areas belong to exclusive economic zones, and there is still a lack of corresponding sea use policies. Therefore, the management measures for offshore wind power development and construction in exclusive economic zones should be introduced as soon as possible.
