This new award is a recognition to an individual, organisation or initiative which positively drives the floating offshore wind industry forward. The first one of its kind will be handed out during Floating Wind Days in May.

Norwegian Offshore Wind, Norway´s largest industrial cluster and the organiser of Floating Wind Days, is now seeking nominees for the award. The jury consists of industry representatives from DNV, Equinor, Deep Wind Offshore,  EDF Renewables, Shell, Lyse, Eviny, TGS, Source Galileo, INGKA, Kansai Electric Power, Odfjell Oceanwind, Å Energi, Corio and RWE.

The international flagship event for floating offshore wind Floating Wind Days will this year attract around a thousand visitors from all over the world in Haugesund on the West Coast of Norway. The official programme will open with a high-level political summit, where the UK Minister of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Graham Stuart, and the Norwegian Minister of Energy, Terje Aasland, will participate, as representatives from two pioneering markets within floating wind. The winners of FWD Floating Wind Award will be presented on the main festival stage on May 30th.

• The criteria for this award is quite open, but undoubtedly the issue of cost reduction is a pressing one to solve. We see positive analysis and trends, but it is of course the industry itself who needs to work in new ways and with new ideas to succeed with this development, says Nesse.

He points out that coexistence, public acceptance, and progress within research are also extremely important factors for success. Nominees for the award are required to demonstrate how their achievements have positively impacted the floating wind industry by actively contributing to at least one of the following values:

• Improved economic value (such as cost and risk reduction)
• Positive societal value
• Positive environmental value

The deadline for submitting candidates is May 1st.
