Havvindkonferansen aims to set the course for a new major industry
Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Aasland will inaugurate Havvindkonferansen 2023 in Oslo on October 17th. In just a few years, it has established itself as one of the most significant meeting places for the Norwegian domestic market.
2023 has been a year marked by many milestones for the Norwegian offshore wind farms Utsira Nord and Southern North Sea II. At Havvindkonferansen, the industry meets politicians, organizations, authorities, and partners to chart the course for upcoming projects in Norway.
The program is divided into five segments: World’s Best Harbors, Gigawatt Requires a Mega Effort, New Offshore Wind Parks in Norway, Challenges & Solutions, and Electrification.
Among the speakers on this day are NVE Director Kjetil Lund, manager of Norwegian Offshore Wind Arvid Nesse, analyst Thina Saltvedt, Renewable Norway Director Åslaug Haga, Eksfin Director Tone Lunde Bakker, and Zero CEO Sigrun Aasland.
The conference opens with a conversation with Terje Aasland, followed by DNV presenting its fresh analysis, the Energy Transition Outlook, with a focus on offshore wind.
In the harbor segment, Menon Economics presents a brand-new analysis of Norwegian harbors’ opportunities in offshore wind. Subsequently, 15 Norwegian harbors will pitch on stage before a panel discussion on financing.
During the “Gigawatt Requires a Mega Effort” session, we will delve into the report presented earlier this autumn by Tekna and Norwegian Offshore Wind, which highlights a significant competence gap in offshore wind.
Kjetil Lund, Director of NVE, initiates the discussion about new projects in Norway, followed by Håkon Borgen, Group Director at Statnett. Ingunn Kalve from Subsea7 and Simen Elvestad from Seagust will discuss the industry’s needs regarding the 2025 tender, before Norway’s regions present opportunities in the North, West, and South.
Laura Clausen, in her doctoral research, has studied public involvement in wind power and will present some findings in the “Challenges & Solutions” segment. Boston Consulting Group will present their report, arguing that Norway should develop 300 GW. A discussion on coexistence between Fiskebåt, Fiskarlaget, Zero, and Offshore Norway follows. The next industry panel includes Wolfgang Wandl from Moreld, Blåvinges Christian Sjødin, and Åslaug Haga from Renewable Norway.
The conference concludes with a session on electrification, with analyst Thina Saltvedt opening the discussion. Gunnar Birkeland from Source Galileo and Siri Kindem from Equinor will present opportunities in electrification projects, followed by a political debate on Electrification, featuring Andreas Bjelland Eriksen (AP), Kirsti Bergstø (SV), Mathilde Tybring-Gjedde (H), and Terje Halleland (FrP). After the program on stage, all participants will meet in B2B-sessions, organized through the Norwegian Offshore Wind app.
