Hainan issued a carbon peak implementation plan: the entire island will ban the sale of fuel vehicles in 2030
The Hainan Provincial Government released the “Hainan Province Carbon Peak Implementation Plan” (referred to as the “Plan”) in this month, proposing to explore a new way of low-carbon green development with tropical island characteristics. The “Overall Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port” requires Hainan to innovate the ecological civilization system and mechanism, promote the construction of the National Ecological Civilization Pilot Zone (Hainan), and establish a system for efficient utilization of resources.
The “Plan” clarifies the phased goal of achieving carbon peaking in Hainan: by 2025, the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption will increase to more than 22%, and the proportion of renewable energy consumption will reach more than 10%.
By 2030, the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption will be increased to about 54%, and carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP will drop by more than 65% compared with 2005.
The “Plan” pointed out that Hainan will build a safe, efficient and clean energy island, vigorously develop renewable energy such as wind, light and biomass, and develop nuclear power in an efficient, safe, active and orderly manner, and the proportion of non-fossil energy power generation will reach 55% in 2025 and 2030 and 75%.
According to the “Plan”, Hainan promotes the formation of a service-oriented economy-based free trade port characteristic industrial structure, and realizes a new model jointly driven by the green economy and the digital economy.
