CSSC Haizhuang unveils giant 18MW turbine
China’s CSSC Haizhuang has unveiled its H260-18MW offshore wind turbine.
The 18MW-rated device comes with a 260-metre diameter rotor and has a swept area of 53,000 square metres, equivalent to area of seven standard football fields.
Under full wind speed, it can generate up to 44.8kWh per revolution, and a single turbine can generate more than 74m kWh every year.
CSSC Haizhuang developed and manufactured the H260-18MW offshore wind turbine based on a comprehensive industrial chain, with the medium-speed integrated scheme and breakthroughs on a number of key technologies.
These include establishing an integrated digital simulation and design platform for the turbine-tower-foundation and a sensing system to control the turbine’s pitch and torque.
