Recently, the floating body of Wenchang, Hainan Province far-reaching offshore floating wind power platform officially started construction at the construction site of CNOOC Qingdao, marking the formal entry of China’s first far-reaching offshore floating wind power localization development and demonstration project into the project implementation stage.

Wenchang far-reaching offshore floating wind power localization development and demonstration project is located in the northern sea area of the South China Sea. It is invested and developed by CNOOC Rongfeng Energy Co., Ltd. affiliated to CNOOC Beijing new energy branch. The particularity of the project lies in its design water depth of 120 meters and a straight-line distance of 136 kilometers offshore, which is the highest water depth and offshore distance. It is the first one in China with a water depth of more than 100 meters “Double hundred” far-reaching offshore floating wind power project with an offshore distance of more than 100 kilometers.

Wenchang far-reaching offshore floating wind power platform is jointly developed and designed by CNOOC and several domestic enterprises. It is at the domestic leading and international advanced level in terms of unit kW investment, unit MW steel consumption, unit capacity and other indicators.

The project will use the original single point mooring facilities of Wenchang oilfield group to build a new triangular semi submersible platform. The central column of the platform is equipped with a 7.25 MW fan. The dry weight of the platform is more than 5000 tons and the total drainage is 12000 cubic meters.

Without any research and development experience of similar equipment, Rongfeng company has successively overcome a series of key technologies, such as the overall load of fan and the dynamic response of floating foundation, the integrated design technology of fan and floating foundation, and the long-distance towing technology of large-scale high-rise floating body.

After two years of exploration and research, Rongfeng company has gradually mastered the experience in the development and design of floating wind power, and strives to accumulate the experience in the construction, towing and construction of floating wind power platform through the follow-up links of the project, so as to form a complete set of “offshore oil scheme” for far-reaching offshore floating wind power development.
