The IEA predicts that offshore wind capacity will reach 130-180 GW by 2040. Both the offshore wind and underlying offshore grid technologies are available.
This Energy Technology Perspectives Special Briefing, The State of Clean Technology Manufacturing, provides an update on recent progress in clean energy technology manufacturing in key regions. It focuses on five technologies – solar PV, wind, batteries, electrolysers and heat pumps – that will be critical to the energy transition.

A group of Norwegian directorates led by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has identified 20 new areas for offshore wind development. The areas, which the directorates recommended should be investigated further, are deemed technically suitable for offshore wind, with relatively low conflicts of interest.
The report shows that in 2022, the quality of the national ecological environment has maintained an improvement trend, and the environmental security situation is basically stable. However, the difficulty of continuous improvement of the ecological environment has significantly increased.
