On December 15, 2021, the national development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of ecological environment, the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development and other 18 ministries and commissions jointly issued the notice on the work plan for the construction of “waste free cities” during the 14th Five Year Plan period. The plan points out that it is necessary to promote the construction of “waste free cities” in about 100 prefecture level and above cities, and basically realize the “one network” of solid waste management information by 2025. The concept of “waste free” has been widely recognized, and the solid waste treatment system and treatment capacity have been significantly improved.
The release of the plan not only accelerated the speed and intensity of promoting the construction of “waste free city”, but also brought an unprecedented positive signal to the large solid waste Market in the environmental protection industry.
Why should we build a waste free city?
China has the largest population and the largest amount of solid waste in the world. According to the 2018 national annual report on the prevention and control of environmental pollution by solid waste in large and medium-sized cities issued by the Ministry of ecological environment, in 2017, 202 large and medium-sized cities produced 201.944 million tons of domestic waste and disposed of 200.843 million tons, with a disposal rate of 99.5%.In recent years, with the emergence of new business forms such as express delivery and takeout, the growth of solid waste can not be ignored. Due to insufficient recycling, classification and resource utilization and untimely harmless treatment, some cities even have the phenomenon of “garbage besieging the city”, which is far from the growing needs of people for a better life.
What stage is Waste Free City construction at present?
China is an early country to put forward this concept, but compared with developed countries, it started a little late in the construction of “waste free city”. At present, the construction of “waste free city” in China is in the exploratory period, and there is great room to improve the technical route and business model, but it also provides a huge potential market for various segments.
In the past two years, the concept of “urban wastewater treatment” has become the fastest growing market in China, and has become the fastest growing market for entrepreneurs.
