The National Energy Administration officially approved 7.5 million kw offshore wind power projects!
According to Guangxi Development and Reform Commission, after more than two years of efforts, Guangxi offshore wind planning was officially approved by the National Energy Administration on November 1, marking the whole region’s offshore wind power entering from the planning stage to the construction and implementation stage.
It is reported that the National Energy Administration has approved the region’s planned installed capacity of offshore wind power of 7.5 million kw in advance, including all four sites within the jurisdiction of the autonomous region, a total of 1.8 million kW, and strive to complete the grid connection before 2025; The area outside of the jurisdiction of the autonomous region will be selected to carry out preliminary work with a capacity of 5.7 million kilowatts, and it is required that it be connected to the grid at least 1.2 million kilowatts by the end of 2025.
With a coastline of 1,628.59 kilometers, Guangxi is the only coastal province among the 12 provinces in western China.
The average wind speed is 6.7~7.8 m/s with an altitude of 130m, the water depth is 10~56 m. when the offshore distance is 15~160 km, and the wind resources are good.
In 2020, Guangxi ranked first in the country in the growth rate of wind installation. According to the data released by the New Energy Department of Guangxi Development and Reform Commission, at the end of 2020, the accumulative installed wind capacity of the region was 6.43 million KW, while in 2019, the capacity was only 2.87 million KW, up 124% year on year, ranking first in China.
It is reported that Guangxi has identified offshore wind as the key direction of energy and industrial development in the 14th Five-year Plan and has planned 25 offshore wind sites with a total installed capacity of 22.5 million kilowatts.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, more than 8 million kw of offshore wind power will be approved, and 3 million kW will be put into production.
The General Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region issued the Three-year Action Plan for the Development of Strategic Emerging Industries (2021-2023) in September this year, which clearly states that Guangxi needs to build a wind power industry chain.
Guangxi will properly develop onshore wind power in areas rich in wind energy resources, and actively promote the construction of offshore wind farms in the Northwest Gulf of Guangxi.
