Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad)
Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) is the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, and is a directorate under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Norad’s main purpose is to ensure that Norwegian development aid funds are spent in the best possible way, and to report on what works and what does not work.

China: One of Norad’s partner countries
China’s growth and influence in the global arena mean that this country is an important partner for Norway. Environment, climate change and welfare development are the main areas for our cooperation with the most populous country on Earth.
Norad grants funding to organisations within civil society, research, higher education and private sector development that work with partners in poor countries.
The Norwegian Climate and Forest funding to civil society
Norad has supported civil society organisations contributing to REDD+ since 2009. The present portfolio runs from 2016-2020 and includes 39 organisations.
Norad’s Grant Schemes for International Organisations and Networks
The overall purpose of Norad’s support to International organisations and network is to ensure regional and international organisations’ and networks’ ability to influence national, regional and international decision-makers.
The Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED) is a programme launched by Norad in 2012.
EnPe is the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development within the fields of Energy and Petroleum (2013-2019).
Private Sector Development, Job Creation, Technical and Vocational Education and Training
Norad has three funding schemes to support private sector development and Technical and Vocational Education and Training in development countries.
Funds for efforts supporting the follow-up of 1325 – Women, Peace and Security 2015 – 2017
The Civil society department announced a call for proposals for efforts supporting the follow-up of Security Council resolution 1325 – Women, Peace and Security.
Rights of minorities of faith and belief
The objective of this funding scheme is strengthening the rights of minorities of faith and belief, and countering discrimination based on faith or belief.
