Hainan: 5.2GW of new installed capacity of offshore wind power and photovoltaic power will be achieved during the 14th Five-Year Plan period
According to the Hainan Daily, Hainan Power Grid Company, China Southern Power grid company subsidy, recently released a work plan. According to the work plan, during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, Hainan’s new installed capacity of offshore wind power and photovoltaic power will reach 5.2GW. The proportion of clean energy in installed capacity will rise from 67 percent in 2020 to over 80 percent, and the proportion of clean energy in electricity generation will rise from 50 percent to over 70 percent in 2020.
According to Wang Zhiyong, director, general manager, and deputy party secretary of Hainan Power Grid Company, by 2025, Hainan will become the country’s first smart grid comprehensive demonstration province.
During the 14th Five-Year-Period, the Hainan power grid will strive for clean energy power delivered into Hainan, accounting for 10% of the total electricity consumption.
According to Lu Bingyan, deputy general manager of the strategic planning department of Hainan Power Grid Company, this year will conclude the three-year operation of the smart grid with several landmark achievements and the comprehensive demonstration province of Hainan smart grid will be basically built by the end of this year. To this end, Hainan Power Grid Company will complete 50 reserved projects, start construction of 36 projects, and put into the production of 87 projects in 2021.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the company plans to invest about 27 billion yuan in upgrading Hainan’s smart grid and fully starting the construction of the 500-kilovolt grid.
Recently, the “Boao Dongyu Island Smart Grid Connection Demonstration Project” was completed and put into operation. With the project being put into operation, the average annual blackout for customers in the core area of Dongyu Island is expected to be reduced to less than 5 minutes, and the reliability rate of the power supply will be increased to 99.9%.
Not only in Boao, at the beginning of this year, 12 new 110kV key power transmission and transformation projects, including Hongtang, Sanya, were started.
By 2025, the average annual blackout for users in the province will be reduced to 3.5 hours, and the blackout in key parks will be less than 5 minutes.
In the first quarter of this year, the on-grid power of hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic power, and other clean energy sources in the province reached 1.142 billion kilowatt-hours, up 42.48% year on year, realizing all consumption of clean energy.
It is understood that from 2019 till now, Hainan’s new power supply is all clean energy.
