Jiangsu: A new installed capacity of 22 million kilowatts and an additional investment of about 163 billion yuan for renewable energy
In January 2021, Energy Bureau of Jiangsu Province issued the “Jiangsu Provincial 14th Five-Year Plan for Renewable Energy Development (Draft for Comments)” (hereinafter referred to as “the Plan”), further clarifying the development goals of wind power and solar power industry.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Jiangsu will increase its installed capacity of renewable energy by about 22 million kilowatts, with an additional investment of about 163 billion yuan.
It is estimated that by 2025, Jiangsu will have a new installed capacity of wind power of about 11 million kilowatts with an additional investment of about 120 billion yuan, including about 8 million kilowatts of offshore wind power and about 100 billion yuan of investment for that.
The installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation increased by about 9 million kilowatts, and the investment increased by about 30 billion yuan.
Jiangsu will adhere to the idea of both large-scale development in coastal areas and decentralized application in inland areas and strive to build ” ten-million-kilowatt wind power bases” both on land and offshore.
By the end of 2025, Jiangsu’s installed wind power capacity will reach 26 million kilowatts.
Jiangsu will steadily promote the large-scale development of offshore wind power.
Jiangsu will accelerate the construction of existing offshore wind power projects in Yancheng, Nantong, Lianyungang and other places, and strive to reach the full capacity of existing offshore wind power projects in Yancheng, Nantong, Lianyungang and other places by the end of 2021, so as to form an offshore wind power base of ten million kilowatts.
By the end of 2025, Jiangsu’s net installed capacity of offshore wind power will reach 14 million kilowatts and strive to exceed 15 million kilowatts.
In solar power, Jiangsu will promote the diversified, wide-range and efficient utilization of solar energy.
By the end of 2025, Jiangsu will have installed 26 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power, among which, distributed and centralized photovoltaic power generation installed capacity will reach 12GW and 14GW, respectively.
According to the development goals of Jiangsu Province, the experts assume that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Jiangsu photovoltaic power will have an installed capacity of 2GW each year and wind power will have an installed capacity of 2.2GW each year.
Jiangsu is China’s largest province in developing offshore wind power.
Data shows that, as of the end of June 2020, Jiangsu Province wind power net capacity was 11.1 million kilowatts, which is ahead of the “13th Five-Year Plan” target tasks. Within which, the installed net capacity of offshore wind power in Jiangsu was 4.64 million kilowatts, accounting for 70 percent of the country’s total.
