China carries forward the construction of “no-waste cities”
“No-waste cities” is guided by a new concept of pursuing innovative, coordinated, green and open development and having its fruits shared by everyone. Through the promotion of green development and green lifestyle, “no-waste cities” advances the solid waste reduction and resource utilization, minimizing landfill and the solid waste’s impact on environment. It is a mode of city development, and it is also a kind of advanced urban management concept.
At present, everywhere is exploring the construction of “no-waste cities”. According to Li Jinhui, professor of the School of Environment of Tsinghua University and member of the National Pilot Advisory Expert Committee of “no-waste cities” on the steady promotion of the construction of “no-waste cities”, the construction of “waste-free city” covers industries, agriculture and other fields, and will eventually form a urban development model that promotes green development and green lifestyle.
The Ministry of Ecology and Environment said recently that they plan to gradually carry forward the construction of “no-waste cities” throughout the country during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, providing important support for the construction of “Beautiful China”.
